Through overwhelming times, we each drew on a powerful lesson. By refusing to give up and instead embracing creative problem solving, we showed everyone that nothing is truly impossible.
Tami – Settling into our new home felt like a dream. We found exactly what we had been praying for, and then everything changed overnight. When my husband was in an accident and unable to work, it threw a wrench into our carefully laid plans. However, I have never been one to simply accept things as they are – instead I find solutions.
Before I became a REALTOR®, I had a successful career in IT. The company I worked for over many years eventually set up a program called “Ask Tami” because of the number of times I found solutions to allegedly impossible problems. Rather than say anything was impossible, they asked me to help solve it. I am a solution-oriented person, one of the many things Erika and I have in common. When it comes to my life, that mindset carries over. I have always been tenacious, and when faced with losing our dream, I got creative. In a matter of months, through extensive planning and hard work, I managed to not only replace our income, but nearly double it. I explored new endeavors, became a real estate investor, flipped homes, and once again made the impossible work. Of course, there have been hard times over the years – it is far from easy balancing a full-time real estate career with four children! And yet, I believe that “impossible” is just a word for an undiscovered solution. I strive to continue uncovering those impossibilities and providing exceptional service to my clients.
Erika – As I sat on the couch with my newborn daughter, every bone in my body aching, it felt like I was being crushed by an enormous invisible weight. Then out of nowhere it came to me, “Joy can only be given away, not taken from you.”
I had my youngest daughter during one of the most chaotic times in our lives. My stepfather-in-law had recently passed, my mother-in-law moved in with us, we lost our home, and I had just undergone my third cesarean section. To top it all off, I caught the flu while in the hospital. I was completely miserable until I realized that I did not have to be. I have never been someone to stay stuck. In fact, before I became a REALTOR®, while I was a stay-at-home mother, I often took my children out on adventures to any new place I could find. Sitting around is not for me – I am just a get-up-and-go kind of person. Not long after I had my youngest daughter, I became a licensed REALTOR® right in the middle of the market crash. I have always tended to look two steps ahead and learn quickly, which helped enormously during an unpredictable time. What I found even more helpful was never saying, “No.” Since I was a child, I have always been able to see and reach goals clearly. As an adult, I embraced my spiritual gift of exhortation and have used it to help others reach their real estate goals. I realized that almost everything in real estate (and most of life) can be figured out, and “no” just means “I do not know yet.” I embraced my real estate career with a solution-oriented mindset and have continued to grow exponentially over the years. In 2021, Tami and I teamed up to offer an even more comprehensive level of service to our clients.
